SolCard Cancellation Policies

SolCard aims to provide a reliable and secure experience for all cardholders. While cancellations are uncommon, certain activities may result in your card being permanently deactivated and your balance frozen.

These rules are enforced automatically by our issuing partners and risk systems.

When Can a SolCard Be Cancelled?

1. Transactions at Blocked Merchants

Attempts to use your Mastercard Online card at blocked merchants may result in immediate and permanent cancellation.

Platinum cards will usually have these transactions declined instead of immediately cancelled.

2. Prohibited Merchant Category Codes (MCCs)

Certain MCCs are considered high-risk, including:

  • Gambling

  • Cash services

  • Money transfers

  • Escort services

  • Political organizations

  • Religious organizations

Transactions within these categories may result in immediate cancellation for Mastercard Online cards.

The full prohibited MCC list is available in the Prohibited Merchants & Blocked Transactions article.

3. Abusive or High-Risk Usage

The following behavior may trigger automatic cancellation:

  • 10 consecutive declines due to insufficient balance

  • A decline rate above 20%

  • Repeated usage attempts at blocked merchants

What Does Not Usually Lead to Cancellation

The following will not normally result in cancellation by themselves:

  • A single insufficient balance decline

  • A mistyped transaction

  • An accidental blocked merchant attempt

Repeated high-risk activity may still result in restrictions or cancellation.

How To Avoid Cancellation

  • Check merchant eligibility before making purchases

  • Keep sufficient balance available to reduce declines

  • Avoid repeated payment attempts at unsupported merchants

  • Contact support if you are unsure whether a merchant is allowed
