Prohibited Merchants & Blocked Transactions

To keep your SolCard active and secure, it's important to follow the network-specific rules set by our issuing partners. Depending on whether your SolCard is a VISA or a MASTERCARD, certain merchants and usage behaviors are strictly prohibited. Failing to follow these rules may lead to your card being canceled or your funds frozen without notice.

If your card starts with 4937, you're using a VISA SolCard. For these cards, the following actions are prohibited:

  • Using the card on Uber or Uber Eats.

  • Three (3) consecutive declines due to insufficient balance.

  • A total decline rate above 20% (i.e. 1 in 5 transactions failing).

  • One (1) single decline when the card balance is below $0.50 USD.

Even if your purchase seems harmless, triggering any of the above may immediately deactivate your card and freeze your remaining balance.

If your card starts with 5319, you’re using a MASTERCARD SolCard, which comes with stricter merchant restrictions and a slightly higher tolerance for declines. You must not use the card at the following platforms:

  • PayPal

  • Grab

  • OnlyFans

  • Patreon

  • Etsy

  • U.S. banking institutions

  • Uber & Uber Eats

  • Binance and other crypto/virtual currency platforms

In addition to these merchant restrictions, your Mastercard will also be canceled if:

  • You experience five (5) consecutive declines due to insufficient funds.

  • Your total decline rate exceeds 20%.

These rules are non-negotiable and automatically enforced by the risk management systems behind each card network. While we aim to offer flexibility, SolCard operates under strict AML and compliance frameworks that require us to block high-risk merchants and suspicious usage patterns.

If you're ever unsure about a merchant or think your card may be at risk of cancellation, we strongly recommend contacting [email protected] before proceeding with any transaction.

Playing it safe is the best way to ensure uninterrupted access to your card.
