Understanding SolCard Cancellation Policies
SolCard aims to provide a reliable and secure experience for every cardholder. While cancellations are rare, there are certain situations where your card may be permanently deactivated and your balance frozen. These rules are set by our issuing partners and are automatically enforced.
When Can a SolCard Be Canceled?
1. Transactions at Blocked Merchants
Any attempt to use your SolCard at a blocked merchant will result in immediate and permanent cancellation.
The list of blocked merchants differs depending on whether you are using a Mastercard Full Access Apple Pay or a Mastercard Virtual card.
See the full list here: Prohibited Merchants & Blocked Transactions.
2. Prohibited Merchant Category Codes (MCCs)
Certain MCCs are flagged as high-risk (e.g., gambling, quasi-cash, money transfers, escort services, political or religious organizations).
Transactions under these MCCs result in immediate cancellation.
The full prohibited MCC list is available in the Prohibited Merchants & Blocked Transactions article.
3. Abusive or High-Risk Usage Behavior (Mastercard Virtual only)
For Virtual SolCards, the following behaviors trigger automatic cancellation:
5 consecutive declines due to insufficient balance.
A decline rate above 20% (more than 1 in 5 transactions failing).
Usage of ANY blocked merchant.
What Does Not Lead to Cancellation
Normal Declines: A single insufficient balance decline or mistyped transaction will not cancel your card.
Accidental Attempts: One mistaken try at a blocked merchant usually just gets declined but repeating it may lead to cancellation, keep in mind it could still instantly cancel.
How to Avoid Cancellation
Check merchant eligibility before paying if unsure, contact [email protected] or through Live Chat.
Keep your balance topped up to avoid repeated declines.
Use responsibly and avoid testing prohibited merchants.
